Arizona Cardinals attack Paris Johnson Jr. is entering its second season in American Footballand he is setting lofty goals for himself in the coming years.
“Yeah, I think personally, just Year 2, I can live up to every expectation that I have for myself, the expectation that the team has for me being here. My ultimate goal is to be the best shot-stopper in the game,” Johnson said on NFL Network’s “The Insiders” show airing Monday.
Arizona traded down from No. 3 and then up to No. 6 in the 2023 NFL Draft to select Johnson out of Ohio.
Johnson started all 17 games for the Cardinals in his rookie season, taking over as their starting right guard. He allowed eight sacks and was penalized 12 times.
The Cardinals are coming off a 4-13 season, which led them to bring in Johnson’s former Ohio State teammate, winger Marvin Harrison Jr.with the No. 4 pick in the 2024 draft. Midfielder Kyler Murray made eight appearances for Arizona after returning from a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury in December 2022.
For their offensive line, the Cardinals added former Cincinnati Bengals Football Team handle Jonah Williams and center Evan Brown in free agency. They also picked up State of Illinois handle Isaiah Adams with the 71st pick in the draft.
Head Coach Jonathan Gannon said In May, Johnson will move to left guard, while Williams will play right guard. Johnson is Ohio State’s starting left guard in 2022, after playing right guard in 2021.
