It’s a big day for Call Of Duty: Warzone, as Verdansk took off into the sunset and the Pacific-themed map Caldera took its place. Besides, all Call Of Duty: Vanguardweapons, some air battles, and loads of gameplay tweaks, including load reduction adjustments. Ricochet Anti-Cheat’s kernel-level driver also comes to combat those nasty cheats.
So, before we dive into the matter, let’s clarify the launch time. If you bought Call Of Duty: Vanguard and played a multiplayer match, you should be able to get to Caldera a day early, so today is at 5pm GMT/9am PST/2pm EST. The new map will unlock for others tomorrow, December 9 at 5pm GMT.
Ricochet’s COD anti-cheat software also received Kernel level driver promised with the launch of Caldera tomorrow night. According to them anti-cheat blog post, the new driver will automatically install when you start Warzone Pacific. It will be rolled out first in the Asia-Pacific region and will expand globally over time. They don’t specify a time, but expect it to spread across servers without a hitch.
As for what you can expect, well, it is a lot. Caldera’s sunny shores are home to 15 areas, named the Lagoon and Resort and the Pier. Fast scan intro blog makes Verdansk seem extremely uncomfortable by comparison. OH! Now there are fighters, which means air combat over blue seas and trenches. If you can’t get enough of these dogfights, there’s a Vanguard Royale playlist that tweaked the collapse of the circle to spend more time with them. It also keeps Killstreaks, Weapons, Operators, and the like as all Vanguard is limited if you want to keep the WW2 stuff.
However, don’t worry if you don’t want to. Like Call Of Duty Black Ops: Cold War before it, Vanguard’s weapons are being integrated into Warzone’s classic Battle Royale mode. Basically, if you are after a great combination of past and present, then this is the mode for you.
Of course, a new map means a new Gulag. This apartment is located in Caldera mine and looks simple and cozy. Nice to see it’s not as large a metropolis as previous iterations as those one-on-one matches became a bit too complicated for my liking. I also joined the new Big Game Bounty, marking a player with a high kill count on your map and giving you the task of taking them down.
The “Gameplay Adjustment” section of Note However, is where the real hidden gems are. Specifically, such a Drop Mark can only be purchased after the first Free Public Drop-in Event has taken place. That means everyone stays on a level playing field for longer, so teams can’t appeal to others too soon. Elsewhere, UAVs are currently $6000, up from $4000, which seems more in line with how powerful they are. And the gas mask animation will wait for the reload, armor plate and grenade throwing animation to complete. I was delighted to see one of my all-time pets evaporate to dust.
The Pacific update is a relatively large 37.8GB, so you should download it as soon as possible. It’s been a while since I ventured into Warzone, so I’m looking forward to stopping by and meeting friends in a new setting for the collective shooter. This all feels like a long time coming, so I really hope it doesn’t disappoint.
However, what cannot be ignored is fired some QA testers at Raven Software, the creator of Warzone. After about 60 Raven members held a walkout to protest on Monday, people from other Activision Blizzard companies join them on Tuesday.
Activision Blizzard is currently being sued by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing for an alleged culture of discrimination and harassment. Staff have since then Calls for the removal of CEO Bobby Kotick after a new report brought to light a number of new allegations of abuse. Currently, the staff of Activision Blizzard QA is organize a walk to protest redundancy at Raven Software.
