Could Cadillac Make an Electric Convertible in the Future?

The revelation of Sollei Concept On Monday, it was reported that Cadillac was at least considering it.

The large convertible was inspired by Cadillac convertibles of the 1950s, although instead of a tailgate, the body had a sleek design that shared many lines with the current car. Celestiq flagship hatch.

The unveiling took place at Cadillac’s personalization center in Warren, Michigan, known as Cadillac House at Vanderbilt, which is located near the Celestiq’s dedicated production line.

Sollei, a name referring to Sol, the Roman god of the sun, may also share Celestiq Ultium EV Platform and battery technology. Cadillac has not revealed any specifications for this concept car.

The exterior design isn’t the only part of the concept’s design that borrows heavily from the Celestiq. The dashboard also features the same 55-inch curved display found on the Celestiq, as well as Escalade IQ.

There are, however, some new elements in the cabin. One of them is the use of sustainable materials made from mycelium, the underground structure of mushrooms and other fungi. Cadillac used the leather-like material for the Sollei cell phone charging pad and several other areas of the dashboard.

Cadillac has not yet indicated whether Sollei will into productionalthough the brand has teased some details by describing the concept as an exploration of “the possibilities of custom vehicle design”, as well as the brand’s “vision to offer modern design” in an “outdoor format”.

If the Sollei does make it into production, it will likely cost more than $340,000, like the Celestiq. There won’t be any direct competitors for the Sollei at that price point, although Rolls-Royce does offer an electric coupe alternative in the form of the Spectre’s.
