Chinese car manufacturer BYD has rolled out a long-awaited feature as part of a new over-the-air (OTA) software update for local Chap 3, Seal And Dolphin vehicle.
All BYD vehicles, including new vehicles Sea Lion 6 Locally available plug-in hybrid electric SUVs (PHEVs) now feature wireless Apple CarPlay.
Before this update, the Atto 3, Dolphin, and Seal only had a wired version of Apple CarPlay that required you to plug in your iPhone using a USB cable.
However, Android Auto has always been offered in both wired and wireless forms on BYD vehicles.

Seal
As pointed out by an Atto 3 owner on Facebook Owners GroupThe new OTA V1.8.0 software update also features optimizations for the Atto 3’s advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). These include the frequency with which ADAS features are activated as well as their volume.
We’ve reached out to BYD to find out what ADAS features have been optimized with this particular update. We’ll update this story if we hear back.
Other features added in the OTA V1.8.0 software update for the Atto 3 include a power-on lock/unlock function, a new off position for the daytime running lights, a mute function by quickly pressing the volume button when a Bluetooth-connected phone rings, as well as a new location function added in the BYD phone app.
There are also new languages for the system and voice assistant.

Dolphin
The BYD Atto 3 electric SUV has been on sale in Australia since late 2022 and recently received some minor adjustments for 2024.
These changes include new black D-pillars and window trim, as well as ‘BYD’ badging on the tailgate instead of ‘Build Your Dreams’.
The Atlas Batman tires have been replaced with Continental tires, while the Parkour Red and Forest Green exterior finishes have been replaced with Cosmos Black.

Updated Atto 3
If you buy the Atto 3 in Cosmos Black or Boulder Grey, the standard light grey/blue two-tone interior is replaced with a black/blue interior – although the bright red ‘guitar strings’ on the doors remain.
The rotating infotainment touchscreen is now 15.6 inches, up from 12.3 inches.
BYD also says it’s added a new camping mode, which lets you use the air conditioning when the car is off and the battery is above 20 percent. There’s also a new karaoke function.
