British Open 2024 live stream, how to watch: TV coverage, schedule, channel, Tiger Woods in Round 1, tee times

The 2024 Open Championship is here, and with it four days of pristine golf at one of the world’s finest courses. Royal Troon’s hosting duties began on Thursday with Round 1 setting the stage for the rest of the year’s final major. The field was packed as some of the game’s top players battled it out for the Claret Jug at the 152nd edition of the sport’s oldest tournament.

Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy lead the odds heading into the first 18 holes of the tournament, but McIlroy is nowhere near the lead. Scheffler, a six-time PGA Tour winner this season, has taken home a record $28 million. If he completes the Masters-Open double, he will be tied only with Tiger Woods when it comes to the greatest single-playing seasons of the century. McIlroy, of course, enters The Open still recovering from his disastrous finish at the US Open. He has generally played well at The Open but also suffered a heartbreaking loss at St. Andrews a few years ago.

This time, McIlroy won’t have to suffer anymore because he completely pushed out when passing through 7 in Round 1 to sit 10 points off the clubhouse lead. Also struggling is the man who beat McIlroy last month, Bryson DeChambeau, who is 5 over and will need a major revival just to make the weekend at Royal Troon.

Will the rest of the star-studded field be looking to the pair, or will another big name make a move? Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa, who are playing the best golf of their careers, will be joined by prodigy Ludvig Åberg, who had an incredible rookie year but has no wins to show for it. A breakthrough at The Open would be a remarkable achievement. See when your favorite golfers will be on the field on Thursday with Tee times and pairings for the Open Championship for Round 1.

With so much talent in the field, whoever wins the final at Royal Troon will surely win the Claret Jug and The winner’s record $3.1 million prize money comes from an all-time high of $17 million..
