Book II Launches March 31, New PS VR Game Revealed – PlayStation.Blog

It finally happened! On March 31 exactly two weeks from today, you will be able to reunite with Quill in Moss: Book II. As the next game in the series, Book II builds on the story you started with Quill in the original Moss. In this sequel to the journey, the stakes are higher than ever as Quill works to save the world of Moss and end Arcane’s ruthless rule. New allies, old friends, and the very world around you will help along the way, but in the end, only you can raise Quill to save this world and rise to legend together.

To celebrate this announcement, I’m excited to sit down with Justin Massongill and Tim Turi of PlayStation to record an episode of PlayStation Underground to give you a preview of some of the environments, enemies, and challenges you’ll encounter in This new adventure. While I did introduce some new, unique features — including a trailer for a big encounter what Quill is about to face — I intentionally left out a lot of the really cool things we want you to experience for yourself. And I have a feeling you’ll be glad we didn’t spoil them for you.

Moss: Book II launches on March 31, new PS VR gameplay revealed

If you don’t have time to watch the entire PlayStation Underground episode, here are some highlights that I think you’ll enjoy:

We start the episode in the garden, an area just outside the castle that you went to in the first game. There’s a reason for you to make the journey to the castle, but we won’t spoil that for some of you who haven’t played Moss. Now you’ve got a couple of chapters in the game where you’ve met a few new characters, and both you (the Reader) and Quill have unlocked new abilities. As a Reader, you have a physical presence in the world, and in addition to instructing Quill, you also get to reach and interact with the environment — which you can expect to do with all of these. new way in Book II. With your new nature merge, you can now plant vine bridges and paint vines on the walls to help Quill get to places she wouldn’t be able to. This will matter as you go through the game.

While running on vines bridges is fun, since having Moss, Quill has learned a new skill of his own: rock climbing. With your ability to plant vines on the wall and your climbing ability, she can now reach high ledges. This is exciting, as it allows us to create new platform challenges that Quill will need your help with navigating.

But these gardens are not full of flowers and butterflies — there is a danger of lurking in the dark. And as you walk towards the greenhouse, you’ll be confronted by the Ripper, a new enemy (one of many!) that you can grab and interact with. It’s fun to wind them up and release them like destruction balls. Let’s just say that sometimes you’ll want to keep them by your side to help solve puzzles.

As you play Book II, you’ll travel to exciting new locations, including the Foundry beneath the castle, the epicenter where Arcane weapons are forged. Luckily, Quill is gifted with a hammer to better equip her for this tough challenge. As you will see, it is quite large in size, which makes it A a lot of fun to crush things. And when both you and Quill work together, it can not only be used to craft scrap metal from armored enemies, but also an important tool for getting out of other predicaments.

Along with new weapons—yes, I said weapons are plural ;)—you’ll encounter new enemies as you progress further into Arcane territory. Here’s a quick look at the Bomber:

As you’d expect, you’ll need to keep an eye on your step as it throws mines your way. And be prepared, as it takes more than a simple attack to tackle this threat…

And though I’ve said it before, I can’t stress this enough: the journey in Moss: Book II will be so trying — full of triumphs and heartaches alike — that’s why Quill needs you by her side more than ever. Your adventure will be more epic than before. More emotional. More interaction. More challenges. It won’t be easy, but saving the world never will.

And if you think Quill’s hammer is impressive, say you haven’t seen anything…

The team at Polyarc are incredibly proud of this game and we can’t wait to share it with you. And believe us, this is just a small taste of this brand new adventure. We hope you loved what you saw today and that you’ll love Quill again in the weeks to come.

Seriously, couldn’t March 31st get here sooner?
