Big dramas coming to Japan, Golovkin-Murata ready for April 9
The rearranged middleweight unification between Gennadiy Golovkin and the rearranged Ryota Murata will take place on April 9.
The fight was scheduled to take place on December 29 but has been postponed due to Covid-19 related issues that have restricted travel to Japan. Murata, the WBA champion will now have a chance to face the IBF holder in Saitama, which will be shown live on DAZN.
39-year-old Golovkin said: “Ryota Murata is an outstanding champion.
“I look forward to returning to the ring and bringing the Big Drama Show to Japan.”
Murata describes the chance to face ‘GGG’ as an “honour” as he looks set to derail the Kazakhs’ plans to face former rival Canelo Alvarez in September.
“I am extremely excited to be a part of this historic middleweight title fight in Japan,” said Murata.
“On April 9th”ordervictory will be mine and Japan will have a unified middleweight world champion. ”
