Battlefield 2042’s final update of the year has been released

Wonderful thing Battlefield 2042 The fix continues, with the final patch promised for this year rolling out today. While it’s not as expensive as previous update, it’s still full of tweaks. And that’s good, because this game can use them. Expect your projectiles to find their target slightly better, lots of sound improvements, and rooftop target removal from Breakthrough mode.

The new 3.1 update is living and is the fourth and final Battlefield 2042 update of the year. Unlike the last few patches, this one isn’t too bombarded with bug fixes and major tweaks. However, it is still where there are improvements and changes that will make the battle even smoother. Think of it as one last broom sweep, just skip over the many other rooms that need order.

One change that will make a lot of players happy is the removal of rooftop capture targets from the Kaleidoscope, Orbit, and Hourglass Breakthrough maps. Instead, they have been moved to the bottom of these buildings. This means that attackers have more options to gain an advantage. Before, you would only step into a death row when defenders looked down, swept you away, then yawned.

Audio has also been improved across the board, with “clarity, distance and sense of direction” all receiving a significant boost. Again, a great tweak that should make identifying enemies a little easier. I’ve noticed that the sound of footsteps sounds a bit like being hit and miss, so I’m hoping the pitiful cries of nearby enemies will be really accurate right now.

Elsewhere, weapon recoil has been adjusted, especially for automatic weapons. And submachine guns now have improved shooting accuracy to help them stand out from more powerful opponents. Comes with both of these: better counter signup. So there will be less moments where your bullet seems to disappear into the air when aimed right at someone. I also actively stopped using automatic weapons thanks to their crazy kicks. Here’s hoping they’re a bit calmer now.

Finally, they fixed an issue where downloads would sometimes go blank on the spawn screen after joining the server. It doesn’t happen to me much, but when it does, I feel very happy.

So that’s a lot for us for this year’s Battlefield 2042 updates, but we can expect more in the new year. Dice said their teams “will take a break at the end of this month and return in the new year with fresh eyes ready to hit the road for Season One.” After that, the game was slowly and steadily recovering, but does anyone remember when updates were more than just bug fixes? Whoever?
