December can be unreasonably mild, but January more than makes up for it so far. Much of the country has experienced sub-freezing temperatures and snowy days this month, and fashion is fully reflective of the seasonal change. In particular, we are seeing more and more trends that are eye-catching but will keep you warm.
One of the trends that has skyrocketed recently are balaclavas. They can’t really be called a scarf or a hat because they are both. You could describe them as a hoodie with a lost sweater. I have found many cases of fashion people incorporating them into Winter outfit later, and the verdict is that they are surprisingly easy to wear. Unlike the big fur bucket hats everyone used to wear, it’s hard to make a balaclava look like a costume.
