Automated Rapid Transit (ART) is now available in Putrajaya – two routes, three-month trial until 31 July, ride free

The Automated Rapid Transit (ART) system is back in Putrajaya and this time, driverless electric vehicles will be tested for three months until July 31. Perbadanan Putrajaya said the pilot project is part of efforts to promote ART as a mode of transportation that can complete the current transportation network.

Ride is free, there will be two routes during the trial period. Line 1A will operate from Monday to Friday from MRT Putrajaya Sentral to Lebuh Wawasan, Persiaran Perdana and Lingkaran Gemilang before returning to the train station.

Route 2B will only operate on weekends. It goes from MRT Putrajaya Sentral to Persiaran Perdana, before reaching Lebuh Bestari, Persiaran Timur, IOI Putrajaya and back to the train station. To board the train, scan the QR code found at the stops. There will be three trips daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

It was recently reported that the Johor state government would go along ART for Johor Bahru due to lower costs compared to building an LRT network – full story here.
