The MG ZS Electric Car has reclaimed the title of cheapest electric car (EV) in Australia – but only until the end of the month.
During August 2024, the 2023 (MY23) versions of the base model MG ZS EV Excite priced from $34,990 drive away nationwide. That means savings of between $6,300 and $8,703 based on prices in the Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia – the cheapest and most expensive areas.
It weakens GWM Ora’s The drive-away price is $35,990, effective from April.
After August ends, the price will return to $39,990 (before on-road costs), but the better-equipped Essence and Long Range versions are both reduced by $1,000, to $41,990 and $46,990 (before on-road costs).
MG Australia previously quoted a $39,990 MSRP for the ZS EV Excite, although that has been scrapped and a $39,990 pre-on-road price has been applied at the end of June.
MG ZS EV Excite is equipped with a 51.1kWh lithium-ion battery, allowing the car to travel a distance of 320km according to the WLTP test cycle.
The electric motor delivers up to 130kW of power and 280Nm of torque to the front wheels, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 8.2 seconds.
Non-commercial customers who buy a ZS EV – or any MG model – from today can also benefit from the brand’s new 10-year, 250,000km warranty, the most comprehensive in Australia.
Unlike Mitsubishi’s 10-year warranty – which is a basic five-year warranty, plus an additional 12 months for up to five years provided servicing is completed on time at a dealer – MG doesn’t offer any additional terms to its warranty coverage.
MG vehicles used for commercial purposes are only warranted for a maximum of seven years or 160,000km, whichever comes first.
