Augusto Fernandez steps up to MotoGP in 2023
Fernandez, soon 25 from Mallorca, is the most accomplished rider in Moto2 so far in 2022 with four Grand Prix wins ahead of this weekend’s event in Aragón.
Playing for the decorated Red Bull KTM Ajo team, Fernandez hopes to give the team a second consecutive Moto2 title before stepping up to MotoGP in 2023, where he will replace Remy Gardner as Australian at WorldSBK in 2023. Gardner won the Moto2 championship for Tech3 in 2021 and was promoted to MotoGP, but Tech3 chose not to extend his contract until 2023, and will replace him with Fernandez instead.

Augusto made his way through the national and European levels to win the Moto2 and world championships for the first time in 2017. He was a substitute rider in his class in 2018 and he quickly learned the speed. and necessity, to the point where he scored three wins and a total of 5 podiums in 2019. 2020 is another educational year but he won 6 trophies in 2021 to get one. another top 5 championship and is under the watchful eye of Aki Ajo and his conquest team.
Fernandez’s growth, ability and potential means he’s on his way to MotoGP. Thanks to the brand new association with Tech3 Racing team, GASGAS now has a flow from FIM JuniorGP, Moto3, Moto2 and become the elite with MotoGP.
GASGAS will enter the pinnacle of Grand Prix for the first time next year due to the synchronicity with Hervé Poncharal’s longstanding and successful lineup.
