Audi is almost ready to reveal information about its rival Porsche Macan

After many delays, Audi Q6 e-tron is almost ready to walk down the catwalk and take in the views, with the automaker confirming it will launch the car on March 18.

Aside from announcing the launch date on social media overnight and posting a teaser photo (top), Audi hasn’t provided any further details about its new electric crossover.

It’s unclear why the brand felt the need to hide the Q6 e-tron’s body, as the design was abandoned by the largely undisguised prototypes Audi unveiled last year.

Based on a premium electric platform (PPE) co-developed with Porsche, the Q6 e-tron will be closely related to the recently revealed second generation. Porsche Macan.

Unlike the new Macan, which is currently only revealed with a coupe-style crossover body, the Q6 e-tron will be available with a choice of two body styles: a regular crossover with vertical rear doors and a Sportback variant with a sloping roof and steeper rear window.

Although the Macan and Q6 e-tron will have many things in common, their interior and exterior designs will be different.

The Q6 e-tron will continue to use the company’s single-frame grille, although this time it will be completely closed and inactive.

The grille will be surrounded by the brand’s first split headlight treatment, with a set of slim LED driving lights located below the bonnet line, while the main lights and headlights will sit low. than on the front and camouflaged.

The side of the Q6 e-tron has prominent ribs above the wheel arches. At the rear, the taillights span the entire width of the vehicle and will be available with OLED lighting elements.

Inside, the Q6 e-tron’s dashboard includes a curved display that houses an 11.9-inch instrument display and a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Options include a 10.9-inch front passenger display with polarized film that allows viewing movies “without distracting the driver,” as well as a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and head-up display. augmented reality vision.

One of the key details yet to be revealed concerns the Q6 e-tron’s powertrain, but the second-generation Macan offers some clues.

All Macan models and presumably all PPE vehicles have an 800-volt electrical architecture.

The Macan 4 has a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup that produces 300kW and 650Nm on overdrive, and is capable of 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 220km/h .

Upgrading to the Macan Turbo will deliver 470kW and 1130Nm, with the 0-100km/h acceleration time reduced to 3.3 seconds and a higher top speed of 260km/h.

The Macan 4 and Turbo have a 96kWh battery and support DC fast charging up to 270kW.

While there will be overlap between the two models, overall the Q6 e-tron will be positioned lower than its Porsche sibling.
