At $10,499, is this the number one 2009 Ford Mustang with a Bullitt engine?

Today Good price or nothing The Mustang won’t turn you into Steve McQueen or Jacqueline Bisset, but it’s still a pretty fun time at the show. Let’s see if it’s worth the price of admission.

Just 25 light-years away, Vega is the brightest star in the constellation Lyra. Its name comes from an Arabic word—waqi’—means “to fall,” making it the perfect description for what happened to 1977 Chevy Vega We reviewed the Vega last Friday. While that car looked pretty good for its age and reputation, it couldn’t overcome a fundamental lack of contemporary desirability at its $7,500 price point. With those issues, our Vega dropped 78 percent No Dice.

It’s Labor Day in the US and Canada, which means it’s time for the ultimate BBQ, followed by the ceremonial removal of all white shoes. Oh, who am I kidding? Screw tradition; you know, we’ll all continue to wear those clunky white NBs!

Another seasonal tradition is the annual introduction of a special edition Mustang that honors one of the car’s previous iterations. It could be a new California Special, a BOSS 302, or a King Cobra.

One Mustang in particular that seems to have staying power is the Bullitt, named after the Highland Green GT driven by Steve McQueen’s character Frank Bullitt in the 1968 film of the same name. Ford has gone back to the well three times over the years for special “Bullitt” editions of the Mustang, starting with the S95 in 2001, followed by the S197 in 2008-2009, and most recently the S550 in 2019.

This Ford Mustang Bullitt 2009 Stemming from its allegiance to the second generation of cinema icons and to the exact classic styling of this generation, it is perhaps the most direct descendant of McQueen’s original car.

Starting with the Mustang GT, Ford specified two color options for the Bullitt—Highland Green and the original black, like the Charger its predecessor chased in the film. Based on that, Ford designers and engineers stripped the car of its badging, added 18-inch Euroflange alloys painted silver, and installed a 4.6-liter SOHC V8 engine, rated at 315 horsepower, providing 15 more horsepower than a standard GT.

Those horses are fed through a Tremec TR-3650 five-speed manual transmission, while a Ford racing strut keeps the front end from swaying too much. The strut also provides a prominent place for the production plate. In all, just 635 Highland Green Bullitts were sold in 2009.

According to the ad, this car could still be alive in 2009 as the seller boasts that it “Runs and Drives Like New.” Despite having 130,355 miles on it and being old enough to have a learner’s permit.

It certainly looks like the pictures. The paint is in good condition, and the wheels don’t appear to be locked. The leather and vinyl upholstery in the cabin seems to hold up well, too, including the steering wheel cover.

This generation of Mustangs has been criticized for its cheap-looking interior materials, and this one is no exception. However, the shiny metal engine-mounted dash and shifter do liven things up a bit. In terms of comfort and convenience, the car comes standard with A/C, cruise control, power windows and locks.

The only real issue arises under the hood, and the only extent is that it is a bit dusty and needs some care. By the way, the Ford Racing cold air intake is genuine.

The seller says everything is original, including the Ford stereo, and everything works. The title is clear, and the asking price is $10,499.
