Aston Martin DB12 made its debut for success DB11 that is introduced in 2016and now the DB12 appears to mark “a new era for Aston Martin as the first supercar of its next generation,” according to the British marque.

The DB12’s linked aluminum construction achieved a 7% increase in torsional stiffness through a series of changes to the underbody components, including the engine crossbars, front and rear struts, and side struts. front and rear baffles.

Improvements have focused on torsional stiffness and lateral stiffness, especially between the front and rear strut towers, providing a more stable base for the rear axle. The automaker says these results lead to improved suspension performance, isolation and refinement, plus improved steering feel and driver connectivity.

While its predecessor, the DB11 broke with the V12 engine, then added a V8 to its range, the second configuration found its place in the DB12, namely the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine. produces 680 PS at 6,000 rpm and 800 rpm. Aston Martin says Nm torque from 2,750 rpm to 6,000 rpm, an increase of 34% compared to the DB11.

Engine output is increased thanks to a revised cam profile, revised compression ratio, larger diameter turbochargers and increased cooling capacity from a redesigned cooling system.

The automaker says power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and an electronic differential, which is linked to the vehicle’s stability control system, allowing adjustment from full open. switch to 100% lock in milliseconds for maximum response.

A new generation of adaptive dampers is used in the DB12, with a claimed 500% increase in force distribution bandwidth and providing a wider range of control and fine-tuning through the provision of modulation settings. transmission rate.

Modifications to the electronic power steering (EPAS) system feature the use of a non-isolated steering column, which provides “pure and unbroken” feedback from the road, while the EPAS calibration aims to gives more central sensations with natural speed of response; this is via a 13.09:1 constant-ratio 2.4 lock-to-lock stand with variable speed sensitive support.

Braking is standard with 400 mm cast iron discs at the front and 360 mm discs at the rear, both with grooves and drilled discs.

Compared to the DB11, its brake booster has been re-tuned for better pedal response. carbon-ceramic brakes are optional, which improves braking performance and reduces fading at temperatures up to 800°C, while reducing springless weight by 27 kg compared to standard brakes for improved handling handling and steering response.

The trunk is 21-inch forged alloy wheels measuring 9.5J front and 10.5J rear as standard, offered with a gloss silver five-spoke design, a satin platinum multi-spoke design, and black. satin and satin black, a Y-spoke Design in satin bronze, satin black and satin diamond finish. Using simulated processes to remove excess mass, these 21-inch wheels are 8 kg lighter than previous 20-inch designs.

They are included in the first OEM application of the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tyres, here on the DB12 with the code ‘AML’ for custom composite tyres. Those measure 275/35 R21 103Y in front and 315/30 R21 108Y in rear.

For electronic stability control, the DB12 offers four preset modes – Wet, On, Track and Off – selectable via a button on the center console. The system works from a range of sensors on the vehicle, the most advanced of which is the new six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU).

The multi-mode stability control program is combined by five driving modes – GT, Sport, Sport Plus, Wet and Individual. The first three modes gradually give more freedom to explore the limits of grip, Wet is used on low grip surfaces and Individual allows the driver to mix and match options on the chassis, powertrain, stability control and traction control.

In terms of interior, the DB12 marks a difference from previous and existing Aston Martin models such as its predecessor DB11 as well as Supercar DBSwhere those lines are more organized and curvier than those in DB12.

The overall dashboard architecture now features a tall center console design – also seen in 992Porsche911 – and now uses more straight lines, along with a more rounded, flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel. Bridge of Weir and Alcantara leather upholstery can also be specified; both have new quilt patterns in DB12.

The infotainment system is also where the DB12 makes a step up from its predecessor, now featuring the first system designed and developed entirely by Aston Martin. This supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, displayed via a 10.25-inch screen with 1,920 x 720 resolution and capacitive touch controls with a 30-millisecond response time.

Physical controls have been retained for the main operations, where buttons are used for controls such as gear selection, driving mode and air conditioning, and there are also physical control switches. for chassis, ESP and exhaust, Lane Assist and parking sensors.

Navigation in DB12 has an online connection, allowing users to look up locations with reviews and select them as destinations. These can also be picked up on the Aston Martin mobile app (for iOS and Android), which can then be sent to the DB12 prior to departure.

This online connection also delivers OTA updates and diagnostics that keep systems in DB12 continually evolving as products, services, and support become available. Audio, meanwhile, is provided by a Bowers & Wilkins 15-speaker system, a dual-amplified surround-sound setup rated at 1,170 watts with 3D header speakers and a subwoofer.

Deliveries to customers of the Aston Martin DB12 are expected to begin in the third quarter of this year.
