When Arnold Schwarzenegger says “I’ll be back” in Terminator, it sounds like he’s actually referring to his appearance in a Belarusian MMO in 2021. World of tanks The Holiday Ops event will be attended by none other than the man himself, as he adds another piece to his sizable belt, admittedly his.
The carnival has been an annual tradition in the game for many years, and it’s a tradition that extends from the start of the festive season throughout the New Year. During the event, players will have the opportunity to decorate a virtual village, and as they level up, they will earn in-game prizes. Pretty heartwarming for a game where you blast everyone to bits. Last year, the Wargaming developers added Chuck Norris to their Holiday Ops event, and Arnold was clearly the most natural successor.
Together they put together a short trailer starring Schwarzenegger himself, where he receives an undelivered letter before the age of 30 from a fan named Little Johnny (all filmed the way it was. makes me think Arnie wasn’t around for most of the production and when he was he didn’t want to retest). Anyway, Little Johnny’s letter asked Arnold if he would visit his family for Christmas, because that was the only present he wanted. Feeling bad for never getting the letter, Schwarzenegger – quite literally – heads to the helicopter to fulfill Little Johnny’s childhood dream. It’s all very endearing and cute, as well as not actively distressing, like the scene from Predator it’s referring to.
“To be able to work with the team at Wargaming on this special event has been a great experience and I know it’s something that will excite the players,” said Schwarzenegger. “I have a long history with tanks because I own the M-47 Patton that I flew in the Austrian Army when I was 18, so I know the thrill of commanding these steel monsters! After years of my friends on reddit asking me about World of Tanks, I’m glad we can finally give our fans the collaboration they’ve been wanting. Celebration is approaching, so put down your holiday cookies and get ready to come to me if you want to spread the festive spirit this year! ”
The trailer says very little about how the actual event will work, but Wargaming says it will have more information on the Holiday Ops 2022 event soon. There’s no mention of an official release date yet, but the 1.15 update It’s expected to drop around December 8, so it’s likely around that time.
This seemed like a good opportunity to check out Jingle All The Way, but they didn’t! Maybe it’s too catchy (and Arnold is known for his flair), but personally I hope they find somewhere to shove in a nod or two.
