LOS ANGELES — Frustrated by a giant pothole in his Los Angeles neighborhood, Arnold Schwarzenegger picked up a shovel and filled it himself.
The actor and former California governor tweeted a video Tuesday of himself and a helper using packed concrete to repair a road in the Brentwood area.
“Today, after the whole neighborhood was upset about this giant pothole that damaged cars and bikes for weeks, my team and I went out and fixed it,” he wrote on his personal page. Twitter. “I always say, let’s not complain, let’s do something about it. This is yours.”
A neighbor rolled down her car window and shouted thank you to the action star.
“Nothing,” said Schwarzenegger, wearing work boots, a leather jacket and sunglasses reminiscent of his role in “The Terminator.”
“You have to do it yourself. This is crazy. For three weeks, I’ve been waiting for this hole to close,” he said.
Schwarzenegger spokesman Daniel Ketchell said Brentwood residents have repeatedly requested repairs since winter storms opened potholes and cracks in local roads.
Mayor Karen Bass last week announced a plan to address what she called an unprecedented number of damaged streets across the city. As of December 30, Los Angeles has received 19,692 repair requests, and as of April 6, teams have filled at least 17,549 potholes, officials said.
The Public Works Department did not immediately respond to an email asking if the pothole that Schwarzenegger filled was scheduled to be repaired.
