A pilot who flew Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet also took a stand on Tuesday, saying that over the years his passengers have included Maxwell’s accuser as well as wealthy and powerful guests like former presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, as well as Prince Andrew and of Britain. late Senator John Glenn.
The female accuser, who uses the pseudonym Jane, is the first of four women expected to speak in court about their sexual abuse allegations. She told jurors she was only 14 years old when Maxwell and Epstein introduced themselves to her at an arts and music camp in Michigan.
Jane later visited Epstein’s home in Palm Beach, Fla. – one of the locations where she said both Epstein and Maxwell repeatedly sexually abused her.
Jane said the abuse went on for several years: “It destroyed my self-esteem, my self-worth,” she said, according to reporter Adam Klasfeld of the Law & Crime website.
When questioning Jane, prosecutors described Maxwell as hinting at the young woman’s life, preparing her for Epstein’s abuse. But Maxwell’s defense team pressed the accuser on why it took years before she accused Maxwell of abusing her. And they note that through a civil lawsuit, she was awarded $5 million from a compensation fund for Epstein’s victims.
The defense team’s cross-examination of Jane continued on Wednesday, with Maxwell’s attorney Laura Menninger posing questions that tested the accuser’s memory.
At one point, Menninger asked Jane if Epstein would introduce her to Donald Trump — Jane said yes, he did, according to Klasfeld.
Unlike other Epstein accusers, Jane also said she has never been asked to have sex with any of the disgraced financier’s friends or associates.
The trial was not televised or broadcast online. And while the video feed from the courtroom was being shown in the adjoining spill room, attendees were prohibited from photographing or broadcasting the proceedings.
Larry Visoski, who testified on Tuesday, flew the plane that was later nicknamed the Lolita Express after allegations were made about Epstein and the young women he often traveled with.
Visoski testified in court that he had never seen signs of sexual intercourse on a plane, and he said the young women he saw appeared to be of age. But he also confirmed prosecutors’ view of the overall power dynamics, calling Maxwell “number 2” of Epstein’s “number 1”.
