One Medical CEO Amir Dan Rubin will step down from the Amazon-owned primary care provider later this year after more than six years at its helm.
The change comes less than a year after Amazon closed its $3.9 billion acquisition of One Medical, a deal that underwent heavy scrutiny by federal regulators.
Chief Operating Officer Trent Green will take over as CEO, One Medical said Thursday. The company did not specify a date for Rubin’s departure or a replacement for Green.

“[Rubin] will work closely with the team over the coming months to transition the CEO role smoothly to Trent Green, who is currently One Medical’s COO and is deeply familiar with the business and team,” a One Medical spokesperson said in a statement.
Amazon is one of several big retailers making moves in healthcare. It launched a generic drug subscription service, RxPass, in January for patients with common conditions such as high blood pressure or anxiety. Amazon rolled out an online pharmacy in 2020, building off its 2018 acquisition of PillPack. Last November, it launched virtual care platform Amazon Clinic, which recently expanded to all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
Not all of Amazon’s healthcare ventures have stuck. It shut down Amazon Care, a medical service it sold to employer health plans, in late 2022 and disbanded a partnership with J.P. Morgan Chase and Berkshire Hathaway in 2021.
