E-commerce company Amazon India will be hosting its annual Prime Day sale on July 23 and 24, which new users will be able to access after paying a membership fee about 50% higher than event last year.
The company has increased the basic membership fee to Rs. 1,499 per year around Diwali from Rs. 999 earlier.
“We believe that based on the amount of investment around shipping, shopping, all the different benefits, we feel that the price is right for the program at this time and we’ve seen great attraction”. Amazon India, director for Excellent and implementation experience, Akshay Sahi told PTI. Monthly Prime membership has increased to Rs. 179 from Rs. 129 charged earlier.
Membership gives users discounted shipping, access to Amazon’s premier entertainment platform Main video and Amazon Music.
Sahi says there will be more than 30,000 new product launches from over 400 leading Indian and global brands such as SAMSUNG, Xiaomi, Intel, boatand 2,000 new product launches from more than 120 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMBs).
SMEs will be launching new products that will include Xech, Cos-IQ, Himalayan Origins, SpaceinCart, Mirakii, Karagiri, Nirvi Handicrafts across categories, including electronics, fashion & grooming, apparel jewelry and craft products.
Amazon will start the special sale from July 7 to July 22 onwards, but discounts and shopping options will be higher during Official Day.
