Undisputed featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner sought revenge for the only loss of her career on Saturday night in front of a Detroit hometown crowd. Baumgardner 14-1’s opponent is Christina Linardatou 14-2, who previously defeated Baumgardner by split decision in 2018. Saturday’s match, broadcast live on DAZN, was scheduled for ten years. union.
Baumgardner looked super confident as she stepped into the ring, then spent most of the first time using an effective jab before slamming her punches into each other for the final thirty seconds. Linardatou clearly had trouble getting past the champion’s stab in the second round while Baumgardner occasionally continued to throw her punches.
Linardatou put pressure on in the third round and was able to land well with his body. The challenger did well, aggressively in the fourth round, although Baumgardner was able to briefly injure the challenger. The fifth turns into something of a slugfest, with both women dealing in leather goods. It’s fun to watch and hard to score. Linardatou went on to have an excellent sixth inning, emphasizing action and landing well.
Baumgardner went on to have a very strong seventh round, the first round leaving her hurting the challenger once again. When Baumgardner can stand her ground, her punches will prevail. The fight could end up being a story about Linardatou’s rampage. If she can’t use it effectively, she will probably win.
Baumgardner hurt the challenger again in the eighth round. It’s been a tough, tough fight, but the champion may have started to retreat. Linardatou did not give up in her, but by the end of the ninth day it was clear that the clock was running out. With that said, Linardatou had a strong tenth to himself. However, it is still not enough.
Baumgardner was able to avenge his only loss, thanks to a unanimously decisive nod from the judges.
