At this rate, the most expensive PS Plus subscription is a tough sell if you don’t like cloud gaming
PlayStation Plus recently branched out into three subscription tiers – Essential, Extra, and Premium – and after the first month, the middle option feels like the best value. As a lover of classic games, especially the ease with which they can be played on modern hardware, I think I’ll be drawn to Premium above all else. But the initial wave of PS Plus Premium classics was sparse, and so far, the market launch is as gradual as people had feared.
For July, Sony announced two new classic catalog additions – No heroes allowed! and LocoRoco’s Midnight Masquerade – and that’s it for the month. Only two PSP games. Never mind the dozens of great potential PS1 games that are still within reach.
Strange, Dino Crisis, Ridge Racer 2and Soulcalibur: Broken Fate to be brief mention for Italy before Sony removed them from the list. I hope is a sign of things to come.
Here we continue with another slow release of the classic
If my expectations were unchecked before, they are now. It’s early days and things could change for the better, but for now it seems that most of Premium’s value is tied to PS3-only streaming classics and cloud gaming in general. . Unfortunately for players like me, who have never used the PlayStation Now service, that’s not a big deal – but it could be much more appealing if the PS1, PS2, and PSP library did a lot. more work.
For all the backlash, I’m slowly but surely continuing Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack thanks to the included N64, Sega Genesis and DLC. I hope PS Plus Premium can enhance it too; if not, I will switch to the Sub-Level when the sub-level is over.
As more games join the service, I’ll update this list – including notes on any PS1 classics with titles or games that can only be played with PS Plus Premium .

It should be noted that some favorite games are included in the separate Remasters list on PlayStation Plus Premium. Notable examples include Patapon, Patapon 2, LocoRoco, LocoRoco 2, Toukiden: Kiwamiand Gravity Rush. So while there are plenty of different newer remakes out there, there are still gems that fit the “vintage” vibes of the PSP and Vita eras.
As for the PS3 games, again, they only stream on PS4 and PS5. There’s too much for me to list and link – sorry! But Tokyo Jungle and Monster PixelJunk definitely make rules.
