Old habits die hard — and 148-year-old habits certainly die; that’s how long the ADT has been around. And even though it’s not a security company when it was founded in 1874 (formerly the American District Telegraph), it has been in the home security business in one way or another since about 1910.

In CES 2023ADT is trying to get rid of the name that is only yours parental protection company by introducing self-setup, not only to its own devices, but also to the Google Nest Cam, video doorbells, and compatible thermostats.

Add devices such as smart video doorbells, motion detection cameraand alarm systems for your smart home can bring benefits to homeowners, from their ability to prevent burglaries to the added value of their home.

For millennial homebuyers, 72% said they would pay more for a smart home, “meaning when you come to sell your home, you get more profit and a higher bid.” more”, according to Glenn Amato, Managing Director of ADT UK.

The last few years, smart home technology has seen the birth and development of the DIY revolution. Avid users have moved away from complicated home management systems that take time to set up and monthly maintenance costs.

These systems allow for little customization and control, as they are often installed by company technicians and locked within the company’s control.

With inexpensive cameras and smart lights, switches and plugs, consumers can create their own smart home experience tailored to their own needs, which big players like Amazon, Apple, Google and Samsung have embraced and profited from.

While ADT has maintained continued growth with its loyal customer base, it has previously missed out on a niche market by DIY installation and customization.

“Consumer expectations and definitions of safety have evolved to include connectivity, proactive prevention, mobility, vehicles and energy,” according to ADT CTO Raya Sevilla, “so we have designed design the new ADT+ app with them in mind — leveraging extensive customer research to make intimately understand their needs and expectations from a new home automation system.”

ADT is launching a new product ADT+ . app will launch in February, allowing you to set up, customize and integrate multiple smart devices in one place, such as ADT stand and keyboardmotion sensors, entrance sensors, and smart home devices like light bulbs and smart locks, plus compatible Google Nest products.

This will be the birth of the next generation of ADT smart home security products, which aims to be a future initiative to satisfy today’s smart home users. We’ll see if the security company succeeds in converting existing users and attracting new ones.
