Adopted Dog Lost 1,200 Miles From Miracle Home
Although rescue dog Murphy lost his family forever when he went missing, rescue dogs still have a lot of support. He ran away from his foster family when they were about 1,200 miles from home. For about a month, the poor dog was alone and scared. But sadly, he was used to being alone.
However, his adoptive family wants to make sure he never feels lonely again. So, with the help of kind strangers, they overcame difficulties to bring their beloved pet dog home. And most of all, Murphy finally has the forever family of his dreams!
Murphy’s Second Chance
The 2-year-old Murphy is a mix between a miniature Pinscher and a German Shepherd. Upon arriving at a shelter in Texas, he was prepared to die after testing positive for heartworms. But Rescue the little dog in North Texas took him in and paid for his heartworm treatment. Then the family of Brooklyn Richardson raised him through the rescue.
“Murphy is very shy and hesitant because of his past, but he is also the gentlest of souls,” says Richardson. “Once he gets to know you, he’ll eat right out of your hand.”
Murphy quickly formed close relationships with Richardson and her family. So she took him with her on a family hiking trip to Minnesota. During the trip, he was startled and ran away with the chain still on him. Richardson stayed in Minnesota for three days in search of Murphy, but she was unsuccessful. So she returned to Texas with a broken heart.
Thanks to social media, Richardson was able to connect with people in Minnesota to help her continue her search for Murphy. Someone even helped her print and send flyers in the area. People put cameras, place bets, and even try to lure him with meat. After a month, all the hard work paid off.
The house with a permanent family
Richardson was glad to hear the good news. She flew back to Minnesota to bring Murphy home. The poor dog has lost 3 pounds, causing it to be severely underweight. He also had some minor cuts and bruises. But the weight can come back and the wound can heal. What’s more important is that Murphy is alive and well.
Since then, the Richardson family has updated Murphy’s chip with their personal information. They decided to adopt him and make him a permanent member of the family.
Richardson said: “He is now our forever adopter. “He’s coming home.”
Murphy is overjoyed to see Richardson again after being missing for so long. Now, thanks to the kindness of his family, he will be surrounded and loved for the rest of his life.
