A Look At Jane Birkin’s Extraordinary Life Through Photos


Actress and singer Jane Birkin has for decades been described as the epitome of French style, although the star was born in London to British parents. But as a resident of France since the late 1960s, her casual, tall low profile is often considered the definition of French style, on and off screen.

Birkin died on July 16, 2023, at the age of 76. After a career spanning seven decades, she has been photographed countless times, both as a model and on the street.

Jane Mallory Birkin was born on December 14, 1946, Birkin’s career began on the London stage. She married composer John Barry in 1965, and after they split in 1968, she turned to a film career.

In 1968, she starred in Slogan, along with French singer and actor Serge Gainsbourgh. Speaking to French Vogue in 2018, Birkin said that “The film saved me and allowed me to stay in France,” where she will stay for the rest of her life. The film also introduces her to Gainsbourgh, with whom she will be staying. a personal and professional partnership for over a decade.
