China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has just released details about the Geely Galaxy Starship 7, which is revealed to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
According to Svolt or Sunwoda Electronic, the car will be equipped with a 1.5-liter BHE15-BHF engine with 110 horsepower and a single electric drive motor, powered by a lithium-iron phosphate battery pack. China Car News.
The Galaxy Starship 7 measures 4,740 mm long, 1,905 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall with a 2,755 mm wheelbase and the PHEV can be equipped with either 18- or 19-inch wheel options; approach and departure angles are 18 and 20 degrees respectively.
Specifications of the Galaxy Starship 7 as filed with the Chinese government show that the crossover could be equipped with a panoramic sunroof, roof-mounted cargo bars, rear windshield wipers, side skirts, rear-facing radar, and exterior cameras.
Geely launched Galaxy Spaceship Concept at the Auto China 2024 show in Beijing earlier this year, previewing a flagship SUV that serves as a demonstration of its suite of artificial intelligence technologies. The model is built on the manufacturer’s Global Intelligent Energy Architecture (GEA).
While the production Galaxy Starship 7 is a five-seater, the Galaxy Starship Concept features a three-row 2-1-2 seating layout with a middle seat in the second row and a bench seat in the third row. The Galaxy Starship Concept is said to feature a next-generation NordThor PHEV powertrain that is said to have a total range of more than 2,000 km.
According to Tycho de Feijter above X/TwitterGalaxy Starship 7 will be positioned above Galaxy E5and will be launched in the Chinese market in the fourth quarter of this year. The Galaxy E5 provides the basis for Proton eMas 7 was previewed in Malaysia last month and will go on sale in Malaysia by the end of 2024.
Galaxy E5 is also named as LESSON 5 for global markets including Thailand, Indonesia and Australia, and thus the SUV will be sold in these markets as a Geely model.
