Lucid has given a first look at its upcoming product Midsize SUV.
On Tuesday at the automaker’s technology and manufacturing day, Lucid revealed on Twitter (now called the X) teaser image of a mid-size SUV. Lucid says production is set for end of 2026 and added that the interference would cost less than $50,000.
Lucid says the crossover SUV will feature “leading technology and efficiency.” The company says the yet-to-be-named vehicle will have the same range as its competitors while using smaller battery.
This electric mid-size SUV could be called Earth. Lucid filed a trademark application for the name Earth with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in January.
Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson said in August that the company would lost many years of competition to catch up with automakers in terms of efficiency.
Teaser images show a crossover SUV with a curved roofline like the The larger Gravity SUV, but in a package similar in size to the Tesla Model Y. The front end shares its core design cues with the Air and Gravitysuch as horizontal headlights and full-width chrome trim with the lettering “LUCID”. Unlike the Gravity, this mid-size SUV appears to have a scalloped hood on both sides similar to the Air sedan. Curved fenders, fender-mounted side mirrors, and no visible door handles.
This mid-size crossover is said to be one of the Three Affordable Electric Cars Lucid is evolving.
Lucid design boss Derek Jenkins said the midsize cars will focus on efficiency and aerodynamics. They will be more compact and lighter than the Air. A crossover SUV, a sedan, and possibly an affordable sporty hatchback are all possibilities.
Pre-production Gravity SUVs are now rolling off the assembly line and are expected to be delivered later this year.
Lucid has not yet announced an official launch date for these mid-size cars.
