2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono launched in Malaysia – base version priced at RM70,900, RVE at RM77,900
Launched in Malaysia is 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Monowith two versions of the bike. The base Supermotard is priced at RM70,900 while the Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE retails for RM77,900, all prices excluding road tax, insurance and registration.
Coming with Ducati’s new Superquadro Mono single-cylinder engine, this engine is essentially half the 1,285cc Superquadro engine from the 1299 Panigale. Displacing 659cc and producing a maximum power of 77.5hp at 9,750rpm with 64Nm of torque at 8,000rpm, the Superquadro Mono comes with a desmodromic valve train and titanium intake valves, along with an oval throttle body with injectors under the throttle.
Adding the optional Ducati Performance Termignoni racing exhaust bumps the power up to 84.5 hp. Like all modern Ducatis, the Hypermotard 698 Mono comes with an oil service interval of 15,000 km and a valve clearance check every 30,000 km.
The electronics suite on the Hyoermotard 698 Mono is comprehensive, with all-new Cornering ABS with Slide-by-Brake, Ducati Wheelie Control, Ducati Traction Control and Engine Brake Control as standard. There are four riding modes – Sport, Road, Urban and Wet – and three Engine, or power, modes, along with three wheelie modes.
Ducati Performance Software for Ducati Wheelie Control is available as an option. This mod can only be used with the track-specific Ducati Performance Termignoni exhaust, providing Wheelie Assist for extended acrobatics, using engine torque to control the corner.
The front suspension is by Marzocchi, fully adjustable, while the rear gets a fully adjustable Sachs monoshock with progressive linkage. As expected, Brembo provides the brakes, with M4.32 4-piston radial-mount calipers at the front grabbing 330mm discs with aluminium mounts to save weight, while the rear gets a 240mm disc.
What sets the Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE apart is the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up/Down EVO as standard equipment, which is also available as an additional cost option on the base model. The RVE variant also comes with model-specific graphics.
Weighing in at 151kg without fuel, the Hypermotard 698 Mono comes with cast alloy wheels shod in Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, measuring 120/70 ZR 17 at the front and 160/60 ZR 17 at the rear. The fuel tank has a capacity of 12 litres and the seat height is set at 904mm as standard, with the low seat option dropping it to 889mm while in combination with the lowering kit it can be lowered further to 849mm.
