Fernando Alonso received an Aston Martin supercar, smiled when he heard the car was broken

Aston Martin Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso has officially taken delivery of his custom-designed Valkyrie supercar, but there is still controversy over whether its debut on the streets of Monaco will go according to plan.

The supercar has been dubbed the “F1 on the road”, with each of the 150 produced delivering more than 860kW of power and hand-built by Aston Martin in the UK.

Mr Alonso, a two-time F1 World Champion in his second year driving for Aston Martin, was involved in the design and build of his own Valkyrie through the brand’s Q by Aston Martin customisation service.

But on the same day as the delivery announcement, a video was posted by a user on Instagram aerodynamic formula claimed that the Valkyrie was damaged “just one hour” after being delivered.

The video shows the British green Valkyrie race car with what is believed to be an Aston Martin technician inside, before the car is loaded onto a flatbed truck and driven away.

But Mr. Alonso has since has answered to the same video on X (formerly Twitter) with a laughing emoji, writing “Ganando credibilidad” and using the hashtag #fuentesDistantes.

These words translate from Spanish to “increased reliability” and #distantsources.

His answer showed that there was nothing wrong with the car, because Sports fever It was instead reportedly loaded onto a truck and taken to his residence in Monaco. The post to which Mr Alonso responded has since been deleted.

Regardless of how the first day with the car goes, the Spaniard said it was “hard to put into words” how much he was “looking forward” to receiving his brand new car.

“Getting behind the wheel of my very own Valkyrie; a car that I have worked so hard to design with the team at Q by Aston Martin is definitely a day to remember,” said Alonso at the time of delivery.

The Valkyrie was first unveiled as an Aston Martin-Red Bull concept in 2016 and underwent extensive testing before debuting in its current production version in 2021.

Under the skin is a 6.5-litre V12 hybrid powertrain that produces 861kW. It’s mated to a seven-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission with rear-wheel drive and is said to be capable of propelling the Valkyrie from 0-62mph in around 2.5 seconds.

Mr Alonso’s changes include a Satin Aston Martin Racing Green paint job with lime green accents, exposed carbon fibre, red and blue graphics to highlight the Venturi tunnel at the rear and unique “Caution Hot” decals at the rear.

Inside there’s more carbon fibre, along with black Alcantara seats with green stitching and Mr Alonso’s embroidered logo on the headrests, and red accelerator pedals engraved with the number 14 – the Spaniard’s racing number.
