Multiple people were shot near a highway north of London, Ky., and a suspect remains at large, officials said Saturday.

London Mayor Randall Weddle said in a Facebook video that seven people were injured, but not all were shot — some were in car accidents. He said there were no fatalities at this time.

The The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook that the shooting occurred near I-75, which was closed at Exit 49 “due to an active shooter situation,” without providing further details.

The London police have released an image of a suspicious person and identified him as Joseph A. Couch, a 32-year-old white male, approximately 5’10” tall and weighing 154 lbs. Police said Couch is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Weddle asked The public is advised to avoid the area or take an alternate route, and is advised not to travel U.S. Route 25 in either direction between London and Livingston.
