Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 Pre-Orders Open Tomorrow!

Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450

Royal Enfield has revealed the latest addition to their line-up, expanding the 450 series with a new ‘Guerrilla’ model built on the platform first introduced in the Himalaya 450 (see Himalayan review here).

Additionally, we just announced that pre-orders will open at 11am on Friday, September 6, 2024 on a first-come, first-served basis at www.royalenfield.com.auThat’s tomorrow, so don’t delay if you want to get your hands on Australia’s first Guerrilla 450. Pricing information will be revealed when pre-orders open.

Royal Enfield launches their new convertible – Guerrilla 450

This will be a roadster-themed option that sits between the 350 and the larger 650 twin, powered by a liquid-cooled 452cc DOHC single-cylinder Sherpa engine that produces just under 40hp and 40Nm of peak torque, most of which is available from just 3000rpm. Compared to the previous LS410 seen in the Scram 411, this is a big performance upgrade.

Including RbW, with Performance and Eco modes to choose from, the elegant four-inch Tripper dashboard, which integrates navigation, music controls, weather forecasts and comprehensive motorcycle information, combined with the RE App. Route records can even be exported to GPX format for sharing with other riders. That navigation is powered by Google Maps, in case you were wondering.

RbW mode and drive mode are included, as well as ABS and phone sync for Nav and music via app

Add a six-speed gearbox and a slipper and assist clutch and you have a sportier, more performance-focused option than the 350 variants, with 43mm front forks, a monoshock, 17-inch wheels and a 1440mm wheelbase. Tyre sizes are 120/70-17 front and 160/60-17 rear, tubeless of course, remembering that the wheels are alloy, not spoked.

The bike uses a steel tube frame, front and rear travel is 140 mm and 150 mm respectively, the saddle height is relatively short and suitable for new riders is 780 mm, this is the lowest height you often see on a nakedbike.

43mm front forks and monoshock are run

Braking is a single 310mm disc up front with a dual-piston caliper and a single 270mm disc at the rear with a single-pot caliper, backed up by dual-channel ABS for safety. That leaves a nice exposed front end.

An 11-litre tank should get you over 300km based on the published mileage figures, which seem to be in the 28-30km/L range, making 250km between stops a very safe figure even if you’re drunk. This isn’t a touring car, so that’s a respectable figure.

191 kg with standard equipment at the kerb is the quoted weight of the Guerrilla 450

In terms of weight, the Guerrilla 450 isn’t the lightest bike in the paddock, with two figures given, a curb weight of 185kg with a 90% fuel load or 191kg with standard equipment fitted. There’s a bit of mystery as to where that sixkg comes from, as curb weight usually includes all the standard equipment…

The all-LED lighting system, rear turn signals integrated with rear brake lights, creates a neat rear end, especially with the lines of the monolithic saddle and handrails.

Full LED lights and fork exhausts are equipped

Overall, the styling is quite elegant, with round headlights that are unlikely to be obtrusive, and a round dashboard that’s timeless – even if it’s packed with tech. The round mirrors are perhaps a little dated, but the black engine, chunky wheels, and eye-catching paint schemes all look very current. The Brava Blue option is particularly striking with its blue front wheels. Both the Playa Black and Yellow Ribbon have black (or maybe dark grey?) rims by comparison, as we can see on the rear of the Brava Blue.

Helping to provide peace of mind is Royal Enfield’s three-year unlimited kilometre warranty and three-year roadside assistance, with the warranty now part of their ‘Borderless Warranty’ which covers 70 countries and is backed by 3,000 service centres. Plus, the bike is of course legal under LAMS in Australia, so new riders can jump on board, once they’ve got their Ls.

Here’s what Royal Enfield CEO B Govindarajan had to say about the new product:

“The Guerrilla 450 is a beautiful and groundbreaking open-top. When we started with the Sherpa 450 platform, we envisioned an adventure tourer and a super open-top that would be the quintessential Royal Enfield. The Guerrilla 450 is exactly that – a open-top bike with character and confidence. Developed in tandem with the Himalayan, the Guerrilla is perfectly tuned for city riding as well as weekend riding on winding roads. It has great on-road handling, combined with accessible power delivery and excellent chassis dynamics that add to the character of the bike and deliver great performance, stability and effortless handling. We had a great time testing this bike and riding it around the world. It really grows with you and allows you to gain more confidence as a rider.”
