Volvo unveils its first electric sedan

Volvo is set to introduce a new full-size sedan to replace the S90 overseas, and the Chinese-owned Swedish brand has teased the upcoming electric vehicle (EV) in the form of a vague image and short video on its website.

According to a report in DecemberA pre-production version of the ES90 was built at Volvo’s Shanghai plant last year, with demand for sedans in the Chinese market likely being the main reason the brand decided to produce the model.

Chinese government approval documents leaked online in 2022 appeared to confirm production of the model would begin in May 2024, although that date has since passed.
