American Airlines AAdvantage And World of Hyatt launched the partnership in 2019. Thanks to this partnership, elite members in both programs can link their AAdvantage and Hyatt accounts and enjoy mutual benefits.

American and Hyatt sometimes offer accelerated elite status offers to members with linked accounts. Right now, we have two: AAdvantage offers an “Instant Status Pass” for World of Hyatt elite members, and World of Hyatt offers a “trial status offer” for AAdvantage elite members.

Read on if you qualify for one of these programs and are interested in getting a hold of American AAdvantage Elite Status or World of Hyatt Elite Status within months — and potentially more than a year.

Fast Track to AAdvantage Elite Status

ZACH GRIFF/THE POINTS GUY

American Airlines is targeting AAdvantage members who have linked their World of Hyatt and AAdvantage accounts. If you’re a Hyatt elite member and have linked your accounts, check your email to see if you’re in line to receive Instant Status. We’ve seen offers for World of Hyatt Globalists to earn for free AAdvantage Platinum Pro StatusBut other Hyatt elite members may be eligible for other AAdvantage card tiers.

If you qualify, you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to apply. But you’ll need to act fast—this offer ends September 5.

Important details

As the name suggests, the Instant Status Pass offers instant status. According to the terms and conditions: “Your complimentary AAdvantage® status will be effective within 24 hours of signing up. It may take an additional 24 hours for your new benefits to apply to existing bookings.”

If you want to extend your status beyond the four-month promotional period, Instant Status Pass also offers status challenges. You can earn four additional months of status by achieving the following Loyalty Points goals within the first four months:

  • Earn 13,000 Loyalty Points to achieve Gold status
  • Earn 25,000 Loyalty Points to achieve Platinum status
  • Earn 42,000 Loyalty Points to achieve Platinum Pro status
  • Earn 67,000 Loyalty Points to achieve Executive Platinum status

If you meet one of these requirements in the first four months (Phase 1), you’ll have another four months (Phase 2) to renew your status again, followed by the same Phase 3. If you meet your Loyalty Points goal for a given status level in all three phases, you’ll earn that status level for the remainder of your current membership year. On the other hand, if you don’t meet at least the Gold requirements in any phase, your free AAdvantage status will be revoked.

Loyalty points are a separate currency from AAdvantage miles and they are used to earn elite status with American. There are many ways to earn them, such as flying American, spending on co-branded credit cardLink your card to AAdvantage Dining and use AAdvantage Online Shopping Portal.

Keep in mind that AAdvantage limits the number of these promotions you can participate in: “If you participate in this Instant Status Pass™ promotion, you may not participate in any other Instant Status Pass promotion for a period of 24 months after you enroll in this promotion.” So only enroll this time if you will be making significant use of your free status and/or you plan to renew your status. If you’re not sure you can take full advantage of this promotion, it’s best to wait until the next one.

Important details

Before you sign up for this offer, there are some important things you need to know.

For example, while you will receive the benefits of Explorist status during your Explorist trial, you will not receive any Club lounge access award. After all, club lounge access is earned through Milestone RewardsLikewise, even if you meet the requirements to maintain Explorist status or achieve Globalist status by February 2026, you will still only earn Milestone Rewards for completing qualifying nights or earning base points for each tier in a calendar year.

MARTIN VAN HEMERT/HYATT

For a stay to count toward this tiered trial offer, you must check out during your Explorist trial. If you check out after your Explorist trial ends, none of the nights from that stay will count. Although you can earn tiered nights by having and using World of Hyatt Credit Card or World of Hyatt Business Credit CardThese nights will not count towards this promotion.

If you successfully meet the 10-night requirement for Explorist status or the 20-night requirement for Globalist status, your new status will appear in your account; you’ll see it within seven business days of checking out for the stay that caused you to exceed the applicable threshold. Your status will then be valid until February 2026.

Finally, make sure you time your subscription carefully. Your 90-day trial status (and the time to reach 10 or 20 nights) begins when you sign up.

The last line

If you are a World of Hyatt Elite member and have linked your Hyatt and AAdvantage accounts, check your email to see if you are eligible for the American Instant Status Card. Keep in mind that you will not be eligible for any other Instant Status Card promotions for two years after signing up for this program. If you decide to sign up, you must do so by September 5.

If you’re an AAdvantage elite member, you may want to apply for the Hyatt tier-matching offer if you can benefit from the World of Hyatt Explorist status on an upcoming stay. Likewise, this offer can be useful if you’re trying to qualify for Explorist status—or the Globalist status for AAdvantage elite members with Platinum Pro or Executive Platinum status—but have too many nights left. Keep in mind that Hyatt Milestone Rewards still requires you to earn regular base points or tier-qualifying nights, even if you use this trial tier offer to earn the desired status. You must apply on Hyatt’s website by October 31.
