This YouTube video was shot on 35mm film.

A recent YouTube video was shot entirely on 35mm film. It may be the only YouTube video ever shot primarily on film, and the look it produces is certainly interesting.

A YouTube channel called Standing Mathematics recently uploaded a video shot on 35mm film. The video itself explains the different film formats in great detail.

For many shooters, 35mm is probably the format to go for, especially if you’re shooting film. This is largely due to the fact that it’s much more accessible and significantly cheaper than many larger formats.

Of course, this is still relatively true of digital cameras today. Smaller formats are, for the most part, more accessible and less expensive, and so larger sensors tend not to be mainstream.

The video linked above is not only interesting because it clearly illustrates what it looks like to shoot on 35mm film, but it also describes the different formats and explains how anamorphic lenses work on film. This was particularly interesting to me because it shows how these types of lenses work and the process required to “desqueeze”.

Check out the full video linked above.
