Dog groomer opens shop in ‘Midnight’ to cut stray dogs’ hair, finds beauty beneath the matted fur
A couple driving along the freeway near Oviedo, Florida, noticed something that made them stop. They saw a dog walking along the side of the road, not knowing where it was going, and almost hitting a car. They stopped abruptly and went to see if the animal was okay. Meet Lucky, THIS is his INCREDIBLE story and happy ending!
They were taken aback by his physical condition. He had severely matted fur that limited his mobility and covered much of his face, so he couldn’t see where he was going and had almost been stabbed. He was barely responsive and appeared to have been abandoned and neglected for much of his life.
The couple couldn’t leave the dog there, so they decided to take him with them in the car. However, because they couldn’t care for the dog overnight, they put out a call on social media – and groomer Kari Falla responded.
When a dog’s fur is so matted that it restricts blood flow, as well as bruising, this can happen. Kari realized that she couldn’t wait until the next day to help the dog when she saw the dog in such a bad state.
Kari rushed to her BGE groomer at 3 a.m., half-frozen and terrified. “Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw,” she remarked. It smelled terrible, and the dog couldn’t walk. “It smelled like death,” she added. Kari worked tirelessly until 4 a.m. It was shaved, and she figured it had been matted for over two years. They decided to call it Lucky while they waited for the vet to come and see it.
The vet was the next big surprise. It seemed Lucky was both blind and deaf, which added to his matted and untidy state. If he hadn’t been found by this loving couple, he would have surely died on the street before the night was over due to his matted fur and terrible condition.
After the surgery, the vet spayed Lucky and gave him his vaccinations and dental cleaning. The search for a forever home began. Zachary Blair was so inspired by Lucky’s story of goodwill and people coming together to help him that he couldn’t wait to give him a forever home.
