Meghan Markle’s Cookbook Has Made Over $1 Million

Although she is no longer a member of the royal family since 2020, Meghan MarkleThe efforts are still paying off for the Royal Foundation. According to the organization Annual report 2023Markle’s 2018 cookbook, Together: Our Community Cookbookcontinue to bring cash into the royal coffers. The Duchess of Sussex created the book with a group of women affected by the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire, a disaster that killed 72 people. Working with Hubb Community Kitchen, Markle collected recipes and stories from the area after taking a “quiet trip to Al-Manaar, a mosque near the Grenfell community.” The book is marked her first solo charity project as a member of the royal family and even included some of her personal recipes.

“The kitchens opened after the Grenfell tragedy, offering displaced women and their surrounding communities a space to cook for their families,” she writes in the book’s foreword. “Their roles as mothers united them across their cultures; the kitchens offered an opportunity to cook what they knew and to relive memories of home, even though some of their homes had recently been lost.”

Last year, the book earned about $111,850, according to Show. However, since its release in 2018, the cookbook has raised a total of £911,000, or about $1,205,420. The agency pulled the information from the Royal Foundation’s annual report, which collects financial disclosures from the royal family.

On the third anniversary of the tragedy, Markle shared a touching message to volunteers and staff at Hubb.

“I’m so proud of you, Harry too. Sending so much love to you from across the pond and thinking of you today,” she said via voice message at the time, according to Evening Standard“I am sure this is a difficult day, but it is also a day where you can look back at what you have achieved over the past three years and how you continue to contribute and be an example to everyone around you.”

“I think back to when I met all of you and how you all came together to overcome what you went through in your communities,” she concluded. “Now what you do is truly inspiring, you continue to give, you continue to put love into action. And that’s really what Hubb is all about.”
