‘Unique’ shoe boxes stolen from Penny Hardaway’s home

Police are searching for a porch pirate who stole exclusive shoe boxes from a man’s home. Memphis men’s basketball coach Penny Hardaway earlier this month.

According to a Memphis police report obtained by ESPN, a male suspect was caught on camera taking merchandise and pushing a shopping cart containing stolen packages near Hardaway’s home. Police released a photo of the suspect online.

“Officers were advised that the camera footage captured the man pushing a shopping cart and stealing multiple packages,” the police report said, adding that the man was last seen pushing a shopping cart down Goodwyn and Central streets.

Memphis TV station WREG, which first reported the news, noted that the exclusive Foamposite shoe boxes are nowhere to be found in stores. Nike’s Foamposite line, popularized by Hardaway when he starred in Orlando Magic in the 1990s, still popular today.

Hardaway told the station that 26 pairs of “one-of-a-kind” Foamposite shoes were stolen.

Memphis police spokesman Officer Joseph Hibler told ESPN that he had no additional information to share, saying only that the investigation is ongoing.
