Yorkton Sires First Winner With Colonel Bob


Hausfrau Racing Colonel Bob won on his debut by an impressive 5 1/4 lengths on August 20 at the Parx Racing and became the first winner for Crestwood Farm’s new stallion Yorkton .

Pope McLean, Pope McLean Jr. and Marc McLean sired their first winner from their winning Petionville mare Honorville, who also sired the award-winning Shoobiedoobydoo (Dialed ) and eight other winners. Honorville was raised by Pope McLean Jr. and Marc McLean, who run their family’s Crestwood Farm.

Colonel Bob, trained by Butch Reid Jr., was the last foal reported at Honorville.

Yorkton is a multiple Grade 2, Grade 3 winning horse bred by 2004 Eclipse sprint champion Speightstown. He was bred in Ontario by Chiefswood Stables, who raced Yorkton under trainers Stuart Simon and Graham Motion. Yorkton became a winner at age 2 and went on to win and place in races on dirt, all-weather surfaces and turf. At age 3, he won the Queenston Stakes (seven furlongs) and the King Corrie Stakes (6 1/2 furlongs). Honeysuckle‘s all-weather main track, and the Charlie Barley Stakes (a mile on grass). At age 4 in 2018, he won the 6 1/2-furlong Bold Venture Stakes (G3), and he won again in 2019. He was also runner-up in the Nearctic Stakes (G2T) and Vigil Stakes (G3) in 2018, and at age 5 was third in the True North Stakes (G2) in Belmont ParkMain track. He posted a 7-4-3 record in 30 starts and earned $546,332.

This year Yorkton is valued at $5,000.
