Chinese electric vehicle brand Zeekr New battery announcement launched in Electric Car 007 can support the world’s fastest charging speed.
These batteries allow cars to charge from 10% to 80% in just 10.5 minutes at normal temperatures, Zeekr announced this week. Even at temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit, Zeekr claims it can still charge from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes thanks to its “advanced battery management system.”

Very few electric vehicles today can charge from 10%-80% — often considered the benchmark for long-distance electric vehicle charging — in less than 30 minutes under all conditions. The fastest charging EVs sold in the US can typically manage a 10%-80% premium Time 18-22 minutes.
The first model to feature these new batteries and take advantage of the fastest charging speeds is the Zeekr 007 sedan, which starts deliveries this month. It will join the 001 hatchback, Minivan 009and the Zeekr X crossover in the lineup of this relatively new brand from the Chinese auto group Geelyis also the parent company of Volvo, Polestar and Lotus.

Zeekr uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistrycommonly used in China but also being adopted by US automakers like Tesla and Ford. Zeekr claims “optimized materials and upgraded technology” have helped it achieve this charging performance, but it’s not the only company making bold claims about LFP Battery. Chinese battery company CATL said in 2023 that its next-generation LFP batteries could Add 250 miles of range in 10 minutes of charging.
Even the fastest charging batteries need high power charging stationIn the release, Zeekr said it has opened 500 fast-charging stations capable of supporting 800-volt charging, totaling more than 2,700 individual connectors, in its home market of China. The brand plans to expand its network to more than 1,000 charging stations this year and aims to have more than 10,000 connectors operational by 2026.
