Audi cuts interest rates on electric cars, but Tesla Y could cost much less


Audi EV’s current financing is being cut Teslabut could still get a better deal from the US automaker, reports Car direct.

A recent dealer newsletter shows 0.99% financing for up to 60 months on all 2024 Audi electric vehicles, compared with rates ranging from 2.99% to 6.49% for most of the brand’s other models. That’s also lower than the 1.99% rate Tesla currently offers. Form 3 and Form Yand significantly lower than the 5.99% of Model S and Model Xaccording to CarsDirect.

However, most Model 3 and Model Y variants (except the base rear-wheel-drive Model 3) are qualify for a $7,500 federal tax creditwhile no Audi electric cars qualify for the credit under the current rules that came into effect earlier this year. And that means one of Tesla’s entry-level electric cars might still be a better option.

With the tax credit factored in, CarsDirect estimates Monthly Payment $680 for a 60-month financing term on the Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD. Even with the lower interest rate, the estimated monthly payment is approximately $870 for an Audi Q4 E-Tron within the same period.

The Q4 E-Tron is Audi’s entry-level electric vehicle and thus the closest rival to the Model Y. It shares the MEB platform with parent brand Audi’s Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.Buzz. Audi’s electric lineup also includes the E-Tron GT and RS E-Tron GT, which share the J1 platform and 800-volt electrical architecture with the Porsche Taycan, and the Q8 E-Tron, which is based on a version of the MLB platform used by many of the VW Group’s gasoline-powered models.

Both Q4 E-Tron and E-Tron GT gets some updates for 2025, bringing more power and range to the Q4 E-Tron and a New RS E-Tron GT performance for the flagship E-Tron GT. The existing models will soon be joined by the Q6 E-Tron crossover and A6 E-Tron hatchback, both of which are based on the same Premium Platform Electric (PPE) as the all-electric model.
