PARIS — It’s hard to believe that it’s been just over two weeks since Celine Dion serenaded us at opening ceremony. After the historical journey of Olympic competition Next is the time to wrap things up.

What to expect for the closing ceremony

This year’s closing ceremony will transform the Stade de France, the country’s national stadium north of Paris, from the site of Olympic athletics and rugby events into a concert hall.

The show, called “Records,” promises to be anything but boring, as Thomas Jolly—the artistic director behind the surprise, spectacular opening ceremony—will also be running the show. According to organizers, the show will feature “over a hundred performers, acrobats, dancers, and circus artists.”

Highlights of the traditional show will include the flag parade — featuring Paris swimming superstars Katie Ledecky and rower Nick Mead as a US flag bearer — and the handing over of the Olympic flag to the next host city of the Summer Olympics, Los Angeles.

French bands Air and Phoenix are said to be on the list, but the closing party will also be highly anticipated. LA-based musical acts will include Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers and rapper (and NBC Olympics correspondent) Snoop Dogg. Grammy-winning artist HER will perform the US national anthem.

Continuing with the theme, Tom Cruise — known for performing his own stunts in Mission Impossible films — will reportedly perform some pre-recorded aerial stunts involving the Hollywood sign (and perhaps even more in Paris).

How to watch

You can watch the closing ceremony on NBC or stream it live on Peacock starting at 3 p.m. ET (9 p.m. ET) on Sunday, August 11. Tonight’s show NBC host Jimmy Fallon and sports commentator Mike Tirico will co-host NBC’s coverage of the event.
