BMW recalls 105,558 vehicles in the US over engine overheating concerns



BMW car To be remembering 105,558 the interference and cars in the United States and will release a software update to address concerns related to the starter motor possibly overheating, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Thursday.

The recall affects a variety of models, including 2019-2020 model years. X5, X72020 3 Series Sedan and X67 Series Sedan 2020-2021, 8 Series 2020 Convertible2020 8 Series Coupe and 8 Series Gran Coupe.

According to a document posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “This safety recall involves the engine starter. In some cases, if the engine starter is mechanically damaged, the engine may not start. If the driver repeatedly attempts to start the engine with long cranking attempts, this could cause the starter to become electrically overloaded.”

The recall statement adds: “If the engine’s sound protection material is contaminated, such as with oil, then in extreme cases, the proximity of the starter to the sound protection material may result in thermal shock.”

According to car safety regulator, salesman will update the vehicle software for free and expects to notify owners by mail by the end of September.
