The Chery Omoda E5 has been launched in Thailand, where it is called the Omoda C5 EV. Officially, there are no Chery-branded cars in the Land of Smiles, so this electric SUV is simply called the Omoda. There are two variants of the C5 – the Long Range Plus at 899,000 baht (RM113,193) and the Long Range Ultimate at 949,000 baht (RM119,488).

There’s only one powertrain on offer, and it’s a front-mounted electric motor with 204 PS (150 kW) and 340 Nm of torque, which helps the SUV accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.2 seconds. Top speed is 172 km/h. The battery is a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit sourced from BYD, which is good for 430 km on the WLTP cycle. Power consumption is said to be 15.5 kWh per 100 km.

In terms of charging, the C5 has an integrated three-phase AC charger with a maximum power of 9.9 kW, as well as DC fast charging up to 80 kW; the ability to charge the battery from 30% to 80% in 28 minutes.

There is also a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function that allows the vehicle to provide up to 3.3 kW to power electrical appliances and devices, useful for outdoor activities or power outages. The specifications are identical to our Omoda E5, launched in March this year.

In terms of specifications, the standard equipment list includes automatic LED headlights with LED DRLs and fog lights, a power tailgate, automatic wipers, heated side mirrors, remote power windows and AC, 18-inch wheels with 215/55 tires, ventilated power front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control with PM2.5 filter, auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless charger and a head-up display.

There are two 12.3-inch screens, one for the dashboard and one for the infotainment system. The latter has a rearview camera and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, connected to six speakers.

Additionally, Thai buyers of the Long Range Ultimate will get sequential rear turn signals, acoustic glass for the front windows, rear privacy glass, a sunroof, puddle lights, roof rails, V2L cable, a ‘540-degree’ surround view camera (360 with underbody view) and eight Sony speakers.
