BMW M2 CS Coming Next Year With Rumored 525 HP, RWD And Automatic

The BMW M2 CS Final debuted as a limited-edition special in 2020, producing 444 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque in just one year on the market, requiring a lucky few to pay $84,595 just for the chance to test drive it—and that’s before options and price increases, because we all remember what it was like to try to buy any car in 2020, right? The M division is cooking up a M2 CS is coming next year with a 2025 or 2026 release; Bimmerpost forum member yunguldyn has some intel on what’s coming. Here’s the same BMW car insiders told us 2025 M2 will display with 475 horsepower; two months ago, BMW launches coupe with 473 horsepower. According to the forumM2 CS will send 525 Horsepower goes to the rear axle through an eight-speed automatic, the only transmission offered. Take that figure two horsepower out of the standard M2’s, and we’re looking at 523 horsepower.

That total would be 79 horsepower more than the previous M2 CS, 20 horsepower more than the current rear-wheel-drive setup. M4 Competition, 20 horsepower under 2023 M4 CSL.

It seems BMW has gotten so tired of enthusiasts complaining about the weight of its M cars that the U.S. outpost has stopped listing curb weights. But future M2 CS owners will feel the benefit of the 20-horsepower difference between cars that are hundreds of pounds apart.

As for the six-speed automatic, BMW has cut the torque rating on the manual in the standard M2, from the auto version’s 443 lb-ft to 406 lb-ft—the same torque as in the previous M2 CS. We’ll assume M didn’t want to compromise on the extra torque in the new M2 CS.

Standard features carry over from the previous version, such as the carbon fiber roof and Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel. Exterior color The color palette this time around presents a choice of Brooklyn Grey or Sapphire Black, with a full leather interior trimmed in black or a two-tone black and red. The wheels are said to be carried over from the CS and CSL models, a step up the food chain. If that means the M4 CSL, then buyers are probably looking at Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels.

Production is expected to last just 11 months, from August 2025 to July 2026.

The 2020 M2 CS’s MSRP is nearly $25,000 higher than the standard M2. If the price difference continues to be close to that next year, buyers will need to spend about $90,000 to get the car before adding options and mandatory price increases.
