The strongest men’s Olympic golf field is ready for the challenge that Le Golf National will pose this week when golf begins at the Paris 2024 Games. With gold medals and international greatness on the line, there will be some great matchups as soon as play begins at the Summer Olympics.

Headlining the event — held at the site of the 2018 Ryder Cup and French Open — is the trio of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Ludvig Åberg, which will start at 4:11 a.m. ET on Thursday. The pair includes three of the world’s top five players, and will undoubtedly be the biggest draw in the first two rounds.

Other notable groups include Wyndham Clark, Hideki Matsuyama and Tommy Fleetwood (3:44 a.m.) as well as Xander Schauffele, Viktor Hovland and Jon Rahm (5:55 a.m.). France’s Victor Perez will tee off at 3 a.m. Thursday as he represents the host nation.

“I wouldn’t say there’s any added pressure,” Perez said of hosting the event in his hometown. “I can say that because I think we’re very similar. I don’t think anyone in this room can put any more pressure on themselves than we already put on ourselves.

“Obviously there are high expectations being in Paris and on a court we’ve played a lot at the French Open. But at the same time, I try to look at it like, ‘Do you want to play at home or away?’ You want to play at home more. And ‘Do you want the crowd to be with you or against you?’ Obviously you want the crowd to be with you more.”

The crowd will certainly be behind Perez and compatriot Matthieu Pavon, who will take on Collin Morikawa and Matt Fitzpatrick later in the day.

But there will be plenty of other exciting teams taking part in Le Golf National as golf at the Olympics begins for the third time since 1904. Be sure to check out CBS Sports’ analysis of Paris 2024 Olympic Golf Schedule with TV Details and more.
