Ikelite Announces First Housing for the Nikon Z6 III

Ikelite revealed its home give Nikon Z6 III—the first housing for the Japanese company’s third-generation mid-range full-frame mirrorless camera. The Z6 III breaks new ground with a “partially stacked CMOS sensor,” offering most of the benefits of a “fully” stacked sensor in Z8 And Z9. Compared to its predecessor, the Z6 III has better AF, new AI-powered subject detection, and the ability to shoot 6K/60p 12-bit N-RAW, 6K/30p ProRes RAW, 5.4K/60p ProRes in 10-bit 4:2:2, and 4K/60p N-RAW—all without cropping.

The Ikelite case for the Z6 III features an ABS-PC body with a transparent back, the company’s Dry Lock (DL) port system, oversized shutter release and autofocus joysticks, and manual flash triggering via the Ikelite baffle. You have the option to add DL1 DS Link TTL Converter for TTL auto flash exposure with instantaneous manual/TTL switching and USB charging and data transfer compartment—so you never have to take the camera out of the case.

Check before diving

There’s no better assurance than being able to see your camera and O-ring through the back of the case. Our signature open-groove design hangs the O-ring in a natural position behind it, making it easier to maintain and more reliable than forcing the O-ring into a groove. Once the case is closed, you can see the O-ring forming a strong, waterproof seal.

We recommend using a pump with a gauge to create a vacuum on the housing and check for leaks before filling with water.

Construction

Our specially designed ABS-PC blend housing is highly durable yet significantly lighter than aluminum. The light color helps keep your camera cooler when shooting in warm, sunny environments.

Lens support

Ikelite lens ports are the lightest on the market yet still strong and able to withstand big waves.

We support a wide range of lenses. Most popular zoom lenses and select focus rings can be operated using simple gears that put adjustments right at your fingertips. The zoom and focus gears vary depending on the type of lens you are using.

Wi-Fi Switch

Use the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi to download photos to another device without removing the camera from its housing. The Wi-Fi feature can only be used on the water within close range of the connected device.

Compatibility

Unless otherwise noted, this case is not suitable for use with additional handles, battery grips, eyepieces, LCD covers or other accessories.

The differences in lens and control placement prevent other camera models from being used or adapted for this case. We are not aware of any other models that can be used or adapted for this case.
