The world isn’t quite RoboCop-worthy yet, but the first police Cybertruck will soon report for duty in California.
First discovered by ElectronicThe Irvine Police Department announced on X (formerly Twitter) this week that they will soon Cybertruck pick up. No details were given, but Electrek notes that the accompanying photo shows the truck looking similar to the one used in promotional material for UP.FIT, a division of Tesla Unplugged Performance.

UP.FIT Cybertruck police patrol vehicle launched last month, said police departments and other agencies have expressed interest and deliveries will begin later this year.
Customers can specify the usual police equipment, including radios and any additional communications equipment, as well as prisoner dividers, weapons storage and other equipment, and K9 cages, UP.FIT said when it announced the truck. The company also offers heavy-duty suspension and braking packages, as well as an off-road package.
Tesla Cybertruck Next Generation Patrolled by UP.FIT
While UP.FIT’s product is an aftermarket conversion, Ford has announced an electric police truck based on the F-150 Lightning in 2022offered through the automaker’s Special Service Vehicle (SSV) factory upgrade program. In 2021, the automaker, which has traditionally controlled a large portion of the police market, showed Mustang Mach-E police test carand then announced that the NYPD had expressed interest in Mach-E police car.
But aside from small-scale trials, police departments have largely avoided using EVs due to lack of choice for the right vehicles, where cost is a major issue, according to the 2022 report. The Cybertruck starts at $60,990 before police conversion.
