The number of minivans sold in the United States has declined, but the remaining fleet is generally doing quite well. In fact, every minivan except one—the lightly updated 2025 Honda Odyssey—now offers a hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain.
2024 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

Launched in 2017, the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid remains the only plug-in hybrid minivan available. And it lives up to expectations in a way few other plug-in hybrids do, allowing families use it as a fully electric car for short daily commutes around town and as a fuel-efficient hybrid on long road trips. The Pacifica Hybrid also remains eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit under new, stricter rules that come into effect in 2024.
Kia Festival

The Kia Carnival Hybrid 2025 brings a hybrid powertrain to a Kia minivan for the first time. Introduced with the Carnival’s mid-cycle refresh that also includes other styling and tech upgrades, the powertrain is similar to the one used in the 2025 Kia Sorento Hybrid crossover, which is also getting an upgrade for the new model year. EPA estimates aren’t yet available, but the Kia Carnival Hybrid should approach the Sorento Hybrid’s 36 mpg combined rating.
Toyota Sienna

What is Sienna? The 2021 Kia Carnival Hybrid gets a standard hybrid powertrain with the latest design for the 2021 model year. It’s not a plug-in hybrid like the Pacifica Hybrid, but it does have the option of all-wheel drive, which is also what sets it apart from the newly launched Kia Carnival Hybrid, which looks to get an EPA combined rating of 36 mpg.
Honda Odyssey

The Honda Odyssey 2025 gets a minor refresh in styling and tech features, but the updates don’t affect the powertrain. That leaves the Odyssey, which was last redesigned for the 2018 model year, as the last minivan without a hybrid powertrain. Honda is aiming to sell 50% hybrid vehiclesand plans to produce hybrid versions of all core models, so an Odyssey hybrid will likely be on the future product list.
