Autumn Sun will miss the 2024 breeding season

Arrowfield Stud’s Smart Young Horse Autumn Sun will miss the 2024 breeding season as he is still recovering from a pelvic injury suffered in a paddock in March.

“Autumn Sun will miss the 2024 breeding season after sustaining a pelvic injury at the paddock in late March,” an Arrowfield statement said. “He has been under close veterinary care and on limited rest at Arrowfield since then. A scan earlier this week showed his injury is healing but not to the extent required for him to be able to serve in the upcoming season.

“Autumn Sun remains healthy and is recovering well. We are confident he will make a full recovery and resume his duties in the 2025 season.”

The news will be a blow to breeders, especially after the stallion’s superb second season with racehorses, when he produced 46 winners from 103 starters, putting him in the lead among Australia’s leading stallions in his second season by that metric.
