3M Open 2024 picks, predictions, lineups, odds: Golf pros underrate Sahith Theegala at TPC Twin Cities

The road to the FedEx Cup Playoffs runs through Blaine, Minn., this week for the 2024 3M Open, which begins Thursday at TPC Twin Cities. There are just two weeks left for golfers to earn points toward the FedEx Cup standings. After next week’s Wyndham Championship, the top 70 golfers in the standings will qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. This week’s 3M Open has attracted a number of top-70 golfers. Former 3M champion Tony Finau, ranked 15th in the FedEx Cup standings, is the favorite at +1100 in the 3M Open odds.

Sam Burns is second at +1800 among the 156 players in the 2024 3M Open group. Sahith Theegala (+2000), Akshay Bhatia (+2200) and Luke Clanton (+2800) complete the top five odds in this week’s PGA odds table. 3M Open 2024 Expert’s Top Pick

One surprise: Nejad is completely overshadowing Theegala, despite being the third pick at +2000. Ranked No. 11 in the world, Theegala has six top-10s and nine top-25s in 20 events this season. Last week at the Open Championship, he finished +14 and missed the cut.

Additionally, Theegala has never played well at the 3M Open. In his three previous appearances, he has never made the weekend. “While I think he could have a good tournament, his history at TPC Twin Cities says otherwise,” Nejad told SportsLine.

Another twist: Nejad is bullish on JT Poston, who is +3500 in the 3M Open. Known as the Postman, Poston has four top-10s and eight top-25s in 19 events this season. He has qualified in five of his last six events.

Nejad likes Poston, who is known as one of the best ball-strikers on Tour. He ranks 44th on Tour in strokes-earned (+.300). “His history at TPC Twin Cities is fantastic,” Nejad told SportsLine. “He’s a great candidate to be there on Sunday.” See other players to back at SportsLine.
